The 40MW battery storage system may be deployed in conjunction with the BlackMesa solar power facility in Elmore County, while the larger project may be adjacent to the Hemingway substation near the city of Melba, although both projects are being considered for deployment at other locations.

Powin Energy will supply the Stack750 battery storage product as part of its Centipede battery storage platform, which has an average duration of 4.36 hours. Idaho Power has submitted a request to the Idaho Public Utilities Commission to determine whether the project proposal is in the public interest. The company will follow a request for proposal (RFP) from last May, with the battery storage system scheduled to come online in 2023.
